Level 2: SEND Basic Awareness

Description

Welcome to the Council for Disabled Children’s and NHSE/I's Level 2: SEND Basic Awareness online training.

This training is for all staff including non-clinical managers and staff working in healthcare services.

By the end of this training you will understand:

  • What we mean by SEND
  • Key principles for working with CYP with SEND, with a focus on:
    • Inclusion
    • Co-production/ personalisation
    • Advocacy
  • Key processes which support CYP with SEND, with a focus on:
    • Education, Health and Care Plans
    • Roles and responsibilities in a multidisciplinary team
    • The local offer and how CYP and their families can access it.

This resource has been developed with funding from NHS England, though we recognise the value in the learning for practitioners and workers across the SEND system from all agencies and organisations.

Level 2 will take approximately 60-90 minutes, you can work through at your own pace. You do not need to complete all of the lessons on the same day.

You will see from the menu on the left, the course includes one lesson and a survey. The menu on the left will track your progress through the course. At the end, we will ask you to complete a final survey.

All sections of the course must be complete before the certificate can be released. 

You will then be able to download your certificate by clicking on the large tick above the menu, or you can return to the 'My trainings' section using the icon to the left of the menu where your certificates will be saved.

Please be aware that this e-learning is now available to complete through the e-learning for healthcare professional website (e-lfh.org.uk). If you are an NHS professional, we highly encourage you to complete through e-lfh as it will submit correct data and will allow your senior managers to track compliance.
