Introduction to mental health

Description

Important Notice: Our e-learning Platform is Moving

We are transitioning to a new eLearning platform, which will launch on the 19th of May 2025. This new eLearning platform will host courses from CDC and other NCB family members. You have until 5pm on the 19th of May to complete any training on the existing CDC eLearning platform. After this date you will need to create a new account on the new platform in order to access our eLearning. Your login details for the existing site will not grant you access to the new platform.

The new platform can be accessed at https://learning.ncb.org.uk and CDC's eLearning will be made available to use from 19th of May 2025 so be sure to check back then.

Please note that while a basic record of your completion data will be transferred to the new platform, you will not be able to re-download certificates without completing each course again. We strongly encourage you to save any important details, including certificates, before the transfer. Thank you for your engagement with our eLearning - we hope to see you on our new platform soon from the 19th of May, and please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any queries.

Welcome to the Council for Disabled Children’s Introduction to mental health online training.

This training has been developed specifically for Information, Advice and Support Service staff and volunteers.

This training will:

  • help you to understand mental health and mental health difficulties
  • help you in understanding how a person’s mental health difficulties relate to their life experiences
  • introduce you to some key mental health terminology
  • support you in working with people who experience mental health difficulties.

It will take between 30-45 minutes to complete. You can go at your own pace.

You will see from the menu on the left, the course includes four lessons and a survey. We recommend you complete all of them in order. The menu on the left will track your progress through the course. At the end, we will ask you to complete a final survey.

Use the menu links to navigate to each lesson and the arrows at the bottom of the screen to navigate through the content. When you've finished a lesson, click the 'Finish' button to mark that lesson as complete. All sections of the course must be complete before the certificate can be released.

You will then be able to download your certificate by clicking on the large tick above the menu, or you can return to the 'My trainings' section using the icon to the left of the menu where your certificates will be saved.

By undertaking this training you agree to receiving a follow-up online evaluation form in 3 months’ time.

We hope you find the course useful! If you need any technical support while completing this course, please contact [email protected]
